[In the Universal Calendar, this feast was celebrated last Thursday, on the Thursday after Pentecost, to mark an octave before Corpus Christi, but since Corpus Christi is transferred to this coming Sunday, in SACBC territories only, the feast is moved a week later, to the Thursday after the Most Holy Trinity, to commence a triduum leading to Corpus Christi. In non-SACBC territories, the Feria from Ordinary Time should be used as above.]

Ampere, Andre-Marie dies in Marseille. He was a Jesuit Alumnus in the time of the suppression. He was born Jan. 20, 1775 in Lyon. A physicist, he founded and named the science of electrodynamics as Electromagnetism.

Charles Simons, of the California Province, is the first Jesuit ordained in China.
