1686At Rome the death of Charles de Noyelle, a Belgian, 12th superior general of the Society.
1886At Rome the death of Cardinal John Bapt. Franzelin a renowned theologian.
1944The death of Joseph Marechal, influential philosopher and writer on psychology.
1988Donald Campion, S.J. dies. sociologist. He was the editor of America magazine from 1968-75 and later director of the Press Office at the Curia.
1991Ernest Burrus, S.J. dies. He wrote 50 books on Jesuit History, especially that of the Southwest USA.
