[In the Universal Calendar, this feast was celebrated last Thursday, on the Thursday after Pentecost, to mark an octave before Corpus Christi, but since Corpus Christi is transferred to this coming Sunday, in SACBC territories only, the feast is moved a week later, to the Thursday after the Most Holy Trinity, to commence a triduum leading to Corpus Christi. In non-SACBC territories, the Feria from Ordinary Time should be used as above.]

At Paris died Father Francis Annat, confessor to Louis XIV for sixteen years. He introduced into France quinine or "Jesuit's bark," and was instrumental in saving Louis XIV's life.

The arrival at Civita Vecchia of the first Spanish ship with the exiled members of the Castile province. They were not allowed to land, and the ship had to sail away to Corsica.
