1670 | At Paris died Father Francis Annat, confessor to Louis XIV for sixteen years. He introduced into France quinine or "Jesuit's bark," and was instrumental in saving Louis XIV's life. |
1767 | The arrival at Civita Vecchia of the first Spanish ship with the exiled members of the Castile province. They were not allowed to land, and the ship had to sail away to Corsica. |
