1561Gonzalo da Silveira, dies a martyr in Africa.
1605The election of Pope Paul V who put an end to the prolonged controversies De Auxiliis and would allow no censure to be attached to Father Molina's book.
1613Fr. Jacques Quentin and Br. Gilbert du Thet arrive to settle on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. It is short lived as the English capture and take over the place.
1815The readmission of the Society into Spain. But the fathers were again exiled on July 31, 1820.
1909The death in Quito, Ecuador, of Italian Jesuit Luis Sodiro, a key scientific figure in Latin America, who developed a botanic collection that formed the base for the National Botanical Garden inQuito.
