Benedict Sestini, S.J. dies. Astronomer, editor, founder of the Messenger of the Sacred Heart and editor l866-85. He was a teacher at Woodstock College, an architect and mathematician. He designed the library ceiling at Woodstock.

William T. Noon, S.J. dies New York Province, Joyce scholar. He wrote Poetry and Prayer.

The Society is informed of the meeting of Fr. Arrupe with Pope John Paul II on this day where he expresses his desire to present his resignation as General to the 33rd General Congregation.
