1637At Alcala died Fr. Alphonsus Esquera, who is said to have enjoyed the visible presence of his Angel Guardian.
1834Crowds destroy the Jesuit College in Madrid, and kill 15 Jesuits.
1866Gerard Manley Hopkins decided to become catholic.
