1619 | At Rome, St. John Berchmans and Bartholomew Penneman, his companion scholastic from Belgium, entered the Roman College. |
1726 | Domenico Zipoli, S.J. dies of tuberculosis. He was a composer in the Jesuit Reductions. He died before his ordination, which was delayed because no bishop was near. |
1848 | At Rome, as Pius IX was returning to the Quirinal, angry shouts were raised, "Death to the Jesuits." The Pope fainted in his carriage. |
