1622 | The death of Pedro Paez, S.J., a Spanish missionary to Ethiopia, the second apostle of Ethiopia. He reached Ethiopia in 1603 after 15 years of journey because en route he was enslaved by Turkish pirates for 7 years. He was the first European to see the source of the blue Nile, he wrote a history of Ethiopia and learned several languages. |
