Blessed Miguel AgustÃn Pro, Priest and Martyr (Optional Memorial)
Miguel AgustÃn Pro (1891-1927) was born in Guadalupe de Zacatecas, Mexico. In 1911, he joined the Society of Jesus, at a time of political and religious persecution in Mexico. In 1914 the young Jesuits sought refuge in California. Later, Pro continued his priestly training in Spain, Nicaragua, and Belgium. He was ordained a priest in 1925. In June 1926, when he returned to Mexico, the government had suppressed all public worship. Pro worked clandestinely, He was arrested in 1927 on false charges, was condemned, and was publicly executed by a firing squad.
