1610The first entrance of the Jesuit Fathers into Canada. This mission was recommended to the Society by King Henry IV of France.
1705Tirso Gonzalez dies 13th General of the Society. He was a Promoter of the missions in China, India, Americas, and in Europe too.
1820Several members of the Society are condemned by the 20th General Congregation of "plotting against the Institute."
1873Departure of Fr. Beckx, General, from the Gesu, a pathetic scene.
1954Henri Perrin, an ex-Jesuit worker priest, is killed in an unexplained motorcycle accident.
1996Christophe Munzihirwa Mwene Ngabo SJ, archbishop of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic was murdered. He had denounced the political and economic exploitation of hundreds of thousands of Rwandan refugees who sought refuge in Kivu.
