1553Queen Mary Tudor made her solemn entrance into London. As she passed St. Paul’s School, an address was delivered by Edmund Campion, then a boy of Thirteen Close by the Queen rode Princess Elizabeth, the future Queen, destined to be welcomed to Oxford at a later time by Campion, selected from the students as orator.
1586At London the arrest of Fr. William Weston and his imprisonment in the Clink.
1645The death of Ven. Brian Cansï¬eld, missionary to England for 25 years. He was arrested while celebrating Mass, and suffered such a beating in prison that he died a few days after he was released.
1772In Rome Ours are driven from the Irish College, and falsely accused of maladministration. An attack is made on the novitiate of S. Andrea and the German College.
