1845Pierre Chazelle dies. Pioneer leader and first Superior of the restored Society in French Canada and the USA.
1973James Brodrick dies, in London, of the Irish Province, historian of the Society, biographer of Ignatius, Bellarmine, and Canisius.
1991Henri Cardinal de Lubac, S.J. dies, age 95. A theologian, once silenced, then vindicated. Surnaturel. He was created a cardinal in 1983.
