On this day we remember all the departed of the Province, especially those who have died since this feast's celebration last year, in particular:

On this day in our Jesuit history...

The Commemoration of All the Departed of the Society of Jesus (Optional Memorial)

In the Constitutions, Jesuits are asked to pray in a special way for their departed companions. When a member of the Society dies, usually all the priests of that particular community celebrate Mass for his soul, while the others offer a special prayer for him. Further, a “notice that the same should be done, ought to be sent to the other places of the Society which the superior thinks proper, so that charity toward the departed no less than toward the living may be shown in our Lord” (Cons. [601]). In this spirit of fraternal charity, the Society wishes to commemorate each year and to pray for the eternal repose of all her members who have gone to meet Jesus, “the Alpha and the Omega”.
